Last Blue Crab Wikipedia Post

For my final Wikipedia post on "Blue Crabs" I added an extra little bit of advice to people who harvest crabs in their spare time for a personal use. I gave the useful information about how to fatten up crabs so that when it is time to cook them they are that much more plump as well as tastier.

I added: In some case people will then take the crabs that they have harvested for the day and put them in what is known as a "keeper pot." A "keeper pot" allows for personal crabbers to catch crabs over a period of time, accumulate a decent harvest, and then have a "crab feast." Another advantage of a "keeper pot" is it allows a crabber to fatten up the crabs they catch by feeding them over the week or so that they are harvested. By putting a few pieces of chicken in a day and allowing the crabs to eat, they become fatter, resulting in a more plump crab when it is time to eat them.

I hope that people will put this great piece of knowledge to work, and look forward to the harvest this summer.

Comments on John Battelle's Searchblog's Article- "Sorry, A Google Search Can Get You Passed Over For A Job"

I went through a list of articles on John Battelle's Searchblog and found one that caught my eye, "Sorry, A Google Search Can Get You Passed Over For A Job." The article was one that seemed interesting because as a college student looking for jobs and internships it was interesting to read into about how a simple Google search can put your job into jeopardy. In the tech savvy world we live into today information about someone is located all over the internet. My biggest concern facing getting a job came from facebook.com, but it turns out that is not the only place where information can be found.

Back to the article. The article titled "Judges Say Google Background Checks Are Okay" gave a brief look at how a Google search can effect your job status. The case that they highlighted focused on the fact that information about a person's past job and how they had been fired was found on Google, could add to a case of firing someone. The final gist of the article was to simple be aware that the internet and Google is powerful and that searches about oneself can be used in a negative way towards their job, but who knows it could also possibly benefit them.

Comments on Slashdot's Article- " iPod/iPhone Nano With Touch Panel?"

I recently read through some of the top posts on Slahsdot and found one that interested me, the article was titled "iPod/iPhone Nano With Touch Panel?." The article caught my eye because I am an avid user of my recently purchased 30 gig ipod and like to try and see what Apple will do next to develop their products.

The article spoke of how Apple is working on getting a patent on a touch screen technology that will allow them to apply touch screen to the future iPod Nano. The touch screen idea for such a small product struck up discussion in the replies to the blog. I personally think that Apple can continue to be more innovative then any other hardware company out there, and they will continue to make quality products as well ones that are a step above their competitors.

Comments on Nate Denver's Blog

I just read through Nate's blog and there were many things that caught my eye. The first thing was that he had added a picture of himself, which I found tempting to do to my own blog, it was the first one I had seen with this and I thought it was pretty cool.

I also found most of his Wikipedia articles to be very interesting as well. I am a big fan of the Roots and have seen them in concert a few times, so it was nice to see that he is adding some useful information to the bands Wikipedia article, like the fact that they are playing at this years Lollapalooza.

Overall I found his blog to be very well put together as well as up to date one everything that we are expected to have on our blogs. His blogs URL is http://natesudblog.blogspot.com/

Bob Shillinglaw Wikipedia Edit

The first edit on Bob Shillinglaw was one that I had to make up, because the post did not exsit. I thought that Shillinglaw deserved an article on Wikipedia because he is one of the top coaches in mens lacrosse. The edit was pretty simple to make as I become more familiar with Wikipedia. This is another page that I hope to add more to over the next few weeks.

The articles URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Shillinglaw

Blue Crab Wikipedia Article

For my second Wikipedia edit on blue crabs I deiced to talk a bit about how to prepare "soft shell" crabs. The article had nothing in regards to the preparation of the topic so I figured it was something that a reader would have interest in.

I added: "Soft shell crabs are typically prepared by first cutting out the lungs, face, and guts. The soft crab is then battered in flour, egg, and seasoning then fried in oil until crispy."

The edit is one that I think will add a whole new topic of discussion for the blue crab post, hopefully more ideas will come from my post. The URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_crab

Wakeboarding Wikipedia Post

I just made my first Wikipedia post on Wakeboarding. Wakeboarding is a water sport that is much like water skiing, but rather then a ski the rider rides on a board similar to that of a snowboard. The post on Wikipedia was very informative, but I though that the intro could have added a bit more about the make up of the line used to tow a rider.

I added: "The lines that tow the rider typically are made of simple rope, but more advanced riders use a line with a wire core to prevent stretching of the line as a rider approaches the wake."

This addition gives a bit more information to the already informative wakeboarding post on Wikipedia. The URL of the post is, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakeboarding
